Donnas

Italy

Donnas is a town and comune in the Aosta Valley region of northwestern Italy. It is one of the municipalities that make up this small, largely mountainous region in the far northwest of the country, near Italy's borders with France and Switzerland.

Like other comuni in the Aosta Valley, Donnas is a local administrative unit with its own municipal government, and it forms part of a region that is officially bilingual in Italian and French. The Aosta Valley is Italy's smallest region by area and is known for its Alpine setting, with the surrounding terrain dominated by high mountains and the Dora Baltea river valley.

Donnas sits within this Alpine environment in the lower part of the valley, in the area of the region that opens toward the plains of Piedmont to the south and east. The town is located along the main route through the valley, which has long served as a passage through the Alps.
