Ayas

Italy

Ayas is a comune sparso (a scattered municipality, made up of several separate settlements rather than a single built-up centre) in the Aosta Valley region of northwestern Italy. It had 1,359 inhabitants in 2010.

The Aosta Valley is Italy's smallest region by area and lies in the Alps along the country's border with France and Switzerland. Ayas is one of the valley's municipalities, a category of local administrative division used throughout Italy.

Because the comune is dispersed, it has no single dominant town centre; its population is distributed among multiple hamlets within the municipal territory.
