Badia is a comune (municipality) in South Tyrol, in the Trentino-Alto Adige region of northern Italy. It lies in the Val Badia, one of the valleys of the province, and is one of the five Ladin-speaking communities of that valley, which forms part of the Ladinia region.
The municipality is therefore among the small number of places in South Tyrol where Ladin, a Rhaeto-Romance language, is spoken alongside Italian and German. Its identity is closely tied to this linguistic and cultural setting within the Val Badia.
