Verbania is the most populous comune and the capital city of the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola. Located in the Piedmont region of northwest Italy, it serves as a primary administrative center for its surrounding area.

The city is situated on the shores of Lake Maggiore. Geographically, it is positioned approximately 91 kilometers (57 miles) northwest of Milan and about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Locarno in Switzerland.
