Ternate is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Varese in the Lombardy region of northern Italy. It is located approximately 50 kilometres northwest of Milan and about 11 kilometres southwest of Varese. The municipality covers an area of 5.1 square kilometres.
As of December 31, 2004, Ternate had a population of 2,270 residents, making it a small community within the Province of Varese.
