Bormida

Italy

Bormida is a rural municipality (comune) in the Province of Savona, in the Liguria region of northern Italy. It has a population of 453 spread over an area of 22.4 square kilometres (8.6 square miles), and it is a member of the Comunità Montana Alta Val Bormida.

Like many small Italian mountain communities, Bormida has experienced a declining population. On May 11, 2017, it was reported that the town's mayor, Daniele Galliano, had recommended a proposal to the Ligurian regional government aimed at attracting new residents. The proposal, which was not a confirmed measure, hoped to enact a bonus in 2018 offering €2,000 (about $2,175) and very low rents starting at $50 per month to anyone willing to move there.
