Antrodoco is a town and comune in the province of Rieti, in the Lazio region of central Italy. Its name derives from the Latin Interocrea.
The town is situated in the upper Velino valley, at the foot of the Monti della Laga and near the border with Abruzzo. It lies along the ancient Via Salaria, the Roman road connecting Rome with the Adriatic coast, a position that has long given it strategic importance as a route through the Apennines.
Antrodoco is also known for the Battle of Antrodoco, fought in 1821 between Austrian forces and troops of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies during the Carbonari uprisings. The town retains a historic centre with medieval and later structures, and it remains a small administrative and agricultural centre in the mountainous interior of Lazio.
