Cagnano Amiterno is a town and comune (municipality) in the Province of L'Aquila, in the Abruzzo region of central–southern Italy. It is one of the many small municipalities that make up the province, whose capital is the city of L'Aquila.
The comune lies within the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, a protected area spanning the mountainous terrain of the central Apennines. Its position in the park places it among the scattered settlements of the Abruzzo highlands rather than on the region's coastal plain.
