Kafr Qasim, also spelled as Kafr Qassem, Kufur Kassem, Kfar Kassem, and Kafar Kassem, is an Arab city located in the Central District of Israel. Situated approximately 20 km east of Tel Aviv, it lies on the Israeli side of the Green Line that separates Israel from the West Bank. The city is situated within the southern portion of the "Little Triangle," a region characterized by its concentration of Arab-Israeli towns and villages.
The city was officially declared a city on February 12, 2008, during a ceremony held by Israeli Minister of the Interior Meir Sheetrit. As of 2024, the population of Kafr Qasim is 27,996. The location is historically significant as the site of the Kafr Qasim massacre on October 29, 1956, during which the Israel Border Police killed 49 civilians.
