Droichead Nua, officially known by this Irish name, is a town located in County Kildare within the Leinster region of Ireland. It currently serves as the second-largest town in County Kildare and ranks as the sixteenth-largest town in the country.
The town began to form during the 18th century and experienced rapid growth following the opening of a military barracks in the early 19th century. In the 20th century, it adopted the name Newbridge and expanded to accommodate both its local catchment area and its role as a commuter town for Dublin. The population grew significantly between 1991 and 2011, reaching 24,366 by 2022.
