Carrick-on-Shannon is the county town and largest settlement within County Leitrim in the Connacht region of Ireland. Located at a strategic crossing point of the River Shannon, the town serves as a significant geographical hub. As of the 2022 census, the population of the town was recorded at 4,743.

The town is geographically divided between two counties; while the main portion lies in County Leitrim within the civil parish of Kiltoghert and the barony of Leitrim, a smaller section on the west bank of the River Shannon sits in County Roscommon. This Roscommon portion, located in the civil parish of Killukin and the barony of Boyle, contains the town's primary railway station.
