Tarkwa is a town located in the Western Region of southwestern Ghana. It serves as the capital of the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal District.
The area is known by its indigenous inhabitants as the "Golden City." The region is characterized by a diverse collection of Fante communities, including Efuanta, Tamso, Aboso, Akoon, Nzemaline, and Kwabedu.
