New Tafo

Ghana

New Tafo is a town in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, located in the Kumasi Metropolitan District near the regional capital, Kumasi. It lies approximately 3.3 kilometres from Tafo, a larger and similarly named town, and about 9.8 kilometres from the centre of Kumasi.

The settlement is distinct from Tafo, with which it is often confused because of the similarity in name. Tafo itself is the thirtieth most populous settlement in Ghana, with a population of 60,919, and its growth has raised debate over whether it remains a separate town or has become a suburb of Kumasi. New Tafo is a separate place and should not be equated with it.

New Tafo falls within the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly area, one of Ghana's urban constituencies, whose parliamentary representative holds one direct seat in the Parliament of Ghana.
