Konongo is a gold bar mining community situated in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. It serves as the administrative capital of the Asante Akim Central Municipal district.
Located approximately 53 kilometers (33 miles) from Kumasi, the regional capital, Konongo had a recorded settlement population of 41,238 people as of 2012.
