Grimsby, formally known as Great Grimsby, is a port town in Lincolnshire, England, with a population of 86,138. Located on the south bank of the Humber near its mouth where it flows into the North Sea, Grimsby serves as the administrative centre of the borough of North East Lincolnshire. The town is situated 45 miles north-east of Lincoln, 33 miles south-east of Hull, and 50 miles east of Doncaster.
Grimsby adjoins the town of Cleethorpes directly to its south-east, and together they form a conurbation. Although administratively part of North East Lincolnshire, the broader region including North Lincolnshire is officially designated as part of the Yorkshire and the Humber region. The town's primary economic significance derives from its status as a working port facility on the Humber estuary.
