Kuusamo is a town and municipality located in the Koillismaa sub-region of the Northern Ostrobothnia region in Finland. It is situated in the northeastern part of the country.
The municipality covers a total area of 5,808.92 square kilometres, with approximately 830.81 square kilometres consisting of water. The population of Kuusamo is 14,800, resulting in a population density of 2.97 inhabitants per square kilometre.
