Vilppula is a locality in the Pirkanmaa region of Finland. It was formerly an independent municipality, and on 1 January 2009 it merged with its neighbour Mänttä to form the new municipality of Mänttä-Vilppula. Vilppula is therefore now part of that combined municipality rather than a separate administrative unit.
The former municipality was unilingually Finnish, meaning Finnish was its sole official language. Its merger with Mänttä was the event that ended Vilppula's existence as a municipality in its own right.
