Velkua

Finland

Velkua is a former municipality in the Southwest Finland region of Finland. It was consolidated with the town of Naantali on January 1, 2009, in a merger that also joined the municipalities of Merimasku and Rymättylä with Naantali.

Before the merger, Velkua bordered the municipalities of Askainen, Iniö, Kustavi, Merimasku, Korpo, Rymättylä and Taivassalo. It is located in the Archipelago Sea area of Southwest Finland, a coastal region characterized by numerous islands.

Since 2009, Velkua has formed part of Naantali rather than functioning as an independent municipality.
