Paimio

Finland

Paimio is a town and municipality in Finland. It is located in the Southwest Finland region, in the southwestern part of the country.

As a municipality, Paimio is one of the local administrative units that make up the Finnish system of towns and municipalities, a status it shares with hundreds of other such entities across the country. The town serves as the administrative centre of the municipality that bears its name.

Paimio is distinct from other places sharing the name, including the better-known Paimio Sanatorium, a former tuberculosis hospital designed by architect Alvar Aalto, which stands in the municipality and is often referred to simply as "Paimio." The town itself remains a small Finnish municipality within the Southwest Finland region.
