Samara is a city located in the Āfar region of northeastern Ethiopia. The Āfar region is known for its arid landscape and is inhabited primarily by the Āfar people, a pastoral ethnic group.
The city lies in one of the hottest and lowest-lying regions of Ethiopia. Due to the remote nature of the Āfar region and limited infrastructure, Samara remains relatively isolated from major urban centers in the country.
