Fortaleny is a municipality in the comarca of Ribera Baixa, in the Valencian Community of eastern Spain. It lies in the province of Valencia, within the broader Ribera Baixa district that occupies part of the coastal and lowland area south of the city of Valencia.
The Valencian Community is an autonomous community on Spain's eastern Mediterranean coast, and Ribera Baixa is one of its comarcas, or traditional county-level divisions. Fortaleny is one of the municipalities that make up this comarca, sharing the administrative and geographic framework of the surrounding area.
As a municipality, Fortaleny has its own local administration within the Spanish system of government, which is organised at national, regional, provincial and municipal levels.
