Benillup is a municipality in the comarca of Comtat, within the Valencian Community of Spain. It is located in the eastern part of the Iberian Peninsula, in the province of Alicante.
The town is one of several small municipalities that make up the Comtat comarca, an inland district of the Valencian Community. Like other settlements in the region, it is situated in a predominantly rural area characterised by Mediterranean landscapes and a traditional agricultural economy.
