Benifallim is a municipality in the comarca of Alcoià, in the Valencian Community of eastern Spain. It is one of the smaller settlements within this inland comarca, which lies in the northern part of Alicante province.
The Valencian Community is an autonomous region on Spain's eastern Mediterranean coast, and Alcoià is one of its inland comarcas, centred on the city of Alcoi. Benifallim therefore sits within a mountainous, predominantly rural part of the region rather than on the coast.
As a municipality, Benifallim is a self-governing administrative unit with its own local council, a status it shares with the other towns and villages of the comarca. Its name is of Arabic origin, as is common among settlements in this part of Valencia, reflecting the region's history under Muslim rule before the Christian conquest in the thirteenth century.
