Barracas

Spain

Barracas is a municipality in Spain, located in the province of Castellón within the Valencian Community. It is a small inland town in the mountainous interior of the province, distinct from the better-known Barcelona district that shares its name.

The town sits in the Alto Mijares comarca, a rural area characterised by rugged terrain and low population density. Like many settlements in this part of Castellón, Barracas has a small resident population and a traditional economy historically tied to agriculture and the surrounding countryside.

Its inland location places it away from the coastal resorts for which the Valencian Community is widely known, giving it a quieter, more remote character typical of the province's interior villages.
