Balones is a municipality in the comarca of Comtat, within the Valencian Community of Spain. It is one of the smaller settlements that make up this inland comarca in the northern part of the province of Alicante.
The Valencian Community is an autonomous region on Spain's eastern Mediterranean coast, and Comtat is one of its inland comarcas, situated away from the coastal resort areas. Municipalities in this part of the region are typically small and rural, set among the mountainous terrain characteristic of the interior of Alicante province.
As a municipality, Balones has its own local administration, which is the standard form of local government for towns and villages throughout Spain. Detailed information about its population, history, and landmarks is limited in the available sources.
