Arañuel is a municipality in Spain, located in the comarca of Alto Mijares in the province of Castellón, within the Valencian Community. It lies in the mountainous inland north of the region, in the Alto Mijares district, an area of the Iberian System characterised by rugged terrain and small, sparsely populated villages.
Like other municipalities in the Alto Mijares, Arañuel is a rural settlement whose administrative identity is defined by its comarca and province rather than by any large urban centre. The surrounding landscape is dominated by hills, valleys and the Mijares river corridor, which gives the comarca its name.
Detailed historical, demographic and cultural information about Arañuel is limited in readily available sources; the municipality is chiefly known for its status as one of the small inland villages of Castellón province in the Valencian Community.
