Zarautz is a coastal town situated in the central Gipuzkoa region of the Basque Country in Spain. It is located approximately 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) west of Donostia/San Sebastián and is bordered by the municipalities of Aia to the east and south, and Getaria to the west.
The municipality includes four specific enclaves: Alkortiaga, Ekano, Sola, and Arbestain. While the permanent population was recorded at 22,890 in 2014, the town experiences a significant seasonal increase, typically swelling to about 60,000 people during the summer months.
