Mendexa

Spain

Mendexa is a town and municipality in the province of Biscay, within the autonomous community of the Basque Country in northern Spain. It is one of the smaller municipalities of the province, situated in the coastal region of Biscay rather than in the more heavily populated inland areas around Bilbao.

Like other municipalities in the Basque Country, Mendexa is administered as a distinct local entity with its own municipal government. The Basque Country is one of Spain's seventeen autonomous communities and comprises the provinces of Biscay, Gipuzkoa, and Álava, with Biscay lying along the Bay of Biscay in the north of the country.

Mendexa's location in northern Spain places it within the Atlantic coastal zone of the Basque Country, a region known for its green, hilly terrain and proximity to the sea. The town is part of the comarca of Lea-Artibai, the district that groups municipalities along the Lea river and the surrounding coastline.
