Elciego is a town and municipality in northern Spain, located at the southern end of the province of Álava, within the Basque Country region. It sits in the Rioja Alavesa area, a district known for its wine production.
The town is best known as the home of the Marqués de Riscal winery, whose modern hotel building, designed by architect Frank Gehry, opened in 2006 and has become a landmark of contemporary architecture in the region. Elciego's historic centre retains traditional Basque and Riojan character, with narrow streets and stone buildings.
