Derio is a town and municipality situated in the province of Biscay within the Basque Country region of northern Spain. It functions as part of the Greater Bilbao metropolitan area.
The municipality was formerly part of the municipality of Bilbao until it became independent in 1983. As of 2006, the town had a population of 5,107 residents. Derio is notable for hosting the largest municipal cemetery in the city of Bilbao.
