Carballedo is a municipality in the province of Lugo, within the autonomous community of Galicia in northwestern Spain. It forms part of the comarca (district) of Chantada.
As a Galician municipality, it belongs to one of Spain's seventeen autonomous communities and lies in the country's northwest, a region bordering the Atlantic and characterised by a wet, green landscape.
