Amoeiro is a municipality in the province of Ourense, within the autonomous community of Galicia in northwestern Spain. It forms part of the comarca (district) of Ourense, the comarca centred on the provincial capital of the same name.
The municipality is bordered by San Cristovo de Cea, Vilamarín, Coles, Ourense, Punxín and Maside. Its position within the comarca of Ourense places it in the southern interior of Galicia, a region characterised by a hilly inland landscape rather than the Atlantic coastline that defines much of the rest of the community.
Amoeiro is a small municipality by population. In 2016 it had 2,264 inhabitants, a figure consistent with the modest, dispersed settlement pattern typical of rural Galician municipalities in the province of Ourense.
