Llerena is a municipality situated in the province of Badajoz within the Extremadura region of southwestern Spain. As of the 2007 census, the municipality had a population of 5,995 inhabitants.
The town was officially declared a Historical Artistic gathering on December 29, 1966. It serves as the judicial and economic center for its namesake region and is positioned at the confluence of National Roads 432 and 413. The location is equidistant from 20 neighboring municipalities.
