Palafolls is a municipality in the province of Barcelona, in the Catalonia region of eastern Spain. It lies in the comarca of Maresme, in the coastal hinterland northeast of Barcelona.
The town is centred on the historic settlement of Palafolls, which grew up around the medieval Castle of Palafolls, a hilltop fortress whose remains overlook the surrounding plain. The municipality also includes the coastal district of Santa Susanna de la Riera, which developed as a separate seaside resort area from the twentieth century onward.
Palafolls sits near the mouth of the Tordera river, close to the boundary with the province of Girona. It is connected to the wider region by road and by the railway line running along the Maresme coast.
