Olivella

Spain

Olivella is a municipality in Catalonia, Spain, located in the province of Barcelona. It lies within the comarca of Garraf, the coastal and inland district that also includes the towns of Sitges, Vilanova i la Geltrú, Sant Pere de Ribes, Cubelles and Canyelles.

The municipality sits in the Garraf massif area, inland from the Mediterranean coast and close to the Garraf Natural Park, a protected limestone range known for its karst terrain, scrubland and coastal cliffs. Olivella is one of the smaller and more sparsely populated settlements of the comarca, with a dispersed population spread across scattered urbanisations and hamlets rather than a single dense town centre.

Its position within the Garraf comarca places it within easy reach of the wider Barcelona metropolitan area and the coastal resorts of the Garraf coast, while remaining a largely rural municipality. Administratively it belongs to the province of Barcelona and the autonomous community of Catalonia, where Catalan is an official language alongside Spanish.
