La Jonquera is a municipality in the comarca of l'Alt Empordà, in Catalonia, Spain. It lies in the far northeast of the region, close to the Mediterranean coast and the Pyrenees.
The town sits directly on the border with France, opposite the French municipality of Le Perthus. This location makes it one of the main crossing points between Spain and France along the road route through the eastern Pyrenees.
