Igualada is a municipality located in the Catalonia region of Spain. It serves as the capital of the Anoia county within the Penedès region and functions as the central market for the Anoia comarca, an area recognized for its agricultural production and wine production.
The city is situated on the left bank of the Anoia River. Geographically, it sits at the western end of the Igualada branch of the Llobregat–Anoia railway line. As of 2009, the municipality had a population of 38,918 residents.
