Capmany

Spain

Capmany (also spelled Campmany) is a village and municipality in the comarca of Alt Empordà, in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. It lies in the far northeast of the Iberian Peninsula, within the historic and cultural region of Catalonia.

As a municipality, Capmany comprises the village itself together with its surrounding rural territory, a pattern typical of the small inland settlements of the Alt Empordà. The comarca of Alt Empordà occupies the northern part of the Empordà plain and its adjoining hills, between the Mediterranean coast and the foothills of the Pyrenees.

Capmany is one of a number of small municipalities that make up the Alt Empordà, a district whose administrative centre is Figueres. The village is known by the two forms of its name, Capmany and Campmany, both of which appear in official and historical usage.
