Batea is a municipality in the comarca of Terra Alta, in the autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. It is located in the eastern part of the country, within the Terra Alta district, a comarca in the province of Tarragona.
The municipality has a population of 1,875. As a Spanish municipality, it forms part of the local administrative structure of the Terra Alta comarca, which serves as one of the territorial divisions of Catalonia.
