Alfes

Spain

Alfés is a village in the province of Lleida, in the autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. It is situated in the western part of Catalonia, within the comarca of the Segrià, on the plains that surround the city of Lleida.

Like many settlements in this part of the Ebro basin, Alfés is a small, quiet community whose economy has traditionally been tied to agriculture, particularly the cultivation of cereals, fruit and other crops supported by irrigation in the surrounding lowlands. The village retains a compact historic core typical of rural Catalan towns.

Alfés lies close to the city of Lleida and is connected to it and to neighbouring villages by local roads, making it accessible from the provincial capital. Its setting in the Segrià comarca places it within one of Catalonia's principal agricultural districts.
