Villardiga

Spain

Villárdiga is a municipality in Spain, located in the province of Zamora within the autonomous community of Castile and León. It lies in the northwestern part of the country, in a region characterised by a continental climate and a landscape of plains and low hills typical of the Duero basin.

According to the 2004 census carried out by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), the municipality had a population of 102 inhabitants. This small population figure reflects the pattern of rural depopulation seen across much of inland Castile and León, where many municipalities retain only a few dozen or a few hundred residents.

As a municipality, Villárdiga forms part of the local administrative structure of the province of Zamora, one of the nine provinces that make up Castile and León. The surrounding area is predominantly agricultural, consistent with the wider comarca in which the village sits.
