Spain

Villaquejida is a municipality in Spain, located in the province of León within the autonomous community of Castile and León. It lies in the northwestern part of the country, in a region characterised by a continental climate and a landscape of plains and low hills typical of the Leonese countryside.

According to the 2004 census carried out by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), the municipality had a population of 1,040 inhabitants. Like many small municipalities in rural Castile and León, Villaquejida is a compact settlement surrounded by agricultural land, with its residents historically dependent on farming and related activities.

The town is one of numerous small municipalities that make up the province of León, a province known for its historic cities, medieval architecture and stretches of the Camino de Santiago. Villaquejida itself remains a quiet, sparsely populated community whose administrative identity is defined by its status as a municipality within this wider region.
