Pinel de Arriba

Spain

Piñel de Arriba is a municipality in the province of Valladolid, in the autonomous community of Castile and León, Spain. It is a small rural settlement in the northern part of the province, within the broad plains of the Duero basin that characterize much of this part of Castile and León.

The municipality is sparsely populated. According to the 2004 census carried out by Spain's National Statistics Institute (INE), Piñel de Arriba had a population of 137 inhabitants. Like many villages in the region, it is administered as a municipality in its own right, with the local government responsible for the basic services provided to its residents.

Its name distinguishes it from the neighbouring locality of Piñel de Abajo, with the Spanish terms "de Arriba" and "de Abajo" indicating an upper and lower settlement respectively. The village lies in a predominantly agricultural area of Valladolid province, where cereal cultivation and other dryland farming are common.
