Penausende

Spain

Peñausende is a municipality in the province of Zamora, within the autonomous community of Castile and León, Spain. It is located in the western part of the country, in a region characterised by a continental Mediterranean climate and a landscape of rolling plains and farmland typical of the Castilian plateau.

Like many municipalities in this part of Zamora, Peñausende is a small, rural settlement whose economy and daily life have traditionally centred on agriculture. The surrounding countryside is marked by open fields, stone walls, and the scattered oak woodlands common to the province.

The village lies within the comarca of Sayago, a historic district in southwestern Zamora known for its distinctive vernacular architecture, including stone houses and slate roofs. Peñausende shares in this local building tradition, which reflects the area's granite and slate geology.
