Itero de la Vega is a municipality in the province of Palencia, within the autonomous community of Castile and León, Spain. It lies in the northern part of the country, in the broad, flat plains of the Tierra de Campos region that characterise much of Palencia's countryside.
The municipality is small and rural. According to the 2004 census carried out by Spain's National Statistics Institute (INE), it had a population of 215 inhabitants. Like many villages in this part of Castile and León, it is a compact settlement surrounded by agricultural land.
Itero de la Vega is also known as a stopping point on the Camino de Santiago, the historic pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, which crosses this stretch of Palencia. The village's name and its location along the route reflect its long-standing role as a place of passage and rest for travellers crossing the meseta.
