Ferreras de Abajo is a municipality in the province of Zamora, within the autonomous community of Castile and León, Spain. It lies in the northwestern part of the country, in a region characterised by a continental Mediterranean climate and a landscape of rolling plains and farmland typical of the Zamora countryside.
According to the 2009 census carried out by Spain's National Statistics Institute (INE), the municipality had a population of 601 inhabitants. Like many small rural municipalities in the region, it is sparsely populated, with its residents distributed across the municipal territory and its surrounding hamlets.
The town's economy and daily life are tied to the agricultural traditions of the Castile and León region, and its small population reflects the wider demographic pattern of rural Zamora, where many municipalities count only a few hundred residents.
