Bembibre is a municipality and city situated in the El Bierzo region within the province of León, located in the Castile and León autonomous community of Spain. As of the 2014 census, the municipality recorded a population of 9,631 inhabitants.
The city holds significant local status as the second largest urban settlement in the El Bierzo region and is recognized as the capital of the "Bierzo Alto" traditional shire. The geography of the area is defined by the presence of two rivers, the Boeza and the Noceda, which cross through the municipality.
