Atapuerca is a municipality and town in the province of Burgos, in the Castile and León region of Spain. The municipality comprises two villages: Atapuerca itself and Olmos de Atapuerca.
The area is best known for the Archaeological Site of Atapuerca, a prehistoric site within the municipality that has made the town famous. The site is the municipality's principal claim to recognition.
