Astorga is a municipality and city located in the Province of León within the autonomous community of Castile and León, Spain. Geographically, the city sits at the transition point between the Páramo Leonés and the Montes de León.
The city serves as a central hub for several regions, including Maragatería, La Cepeda, and the Ribera del Órbigo. It is also designated as the head of judicial district number 5 in the province of León.
Astorga is the seat of one of Spain's oldest and most extensive dioceses. This diocese maintains jurisdiction over approximately half of the province of León, as well as portions of the neighboring provinces of Ourense and Zamora.
