Alaraz is a village and municipality in the province of Salamanca, in western Spain. It lies within the autonomous community of Castile and León, in the south-east of the province.
The municipality is situated about 40 kilometres (25 miles) from Salamanca, the provincial capital. As a municipality, it comprises the village itself together with its surrounding rural territory, a common administrative arrangement in this part of Spain.
Alaraz belongs to the sparsely populated countryside of inland Castile and León, a region characterised by its agricultural landscape and historic small settlements. The village lies in the south-eastern portion of the province, away from the main urban centre of Salamanca.
